Apache Tomcat is an open source software implementation of the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies. The Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages specifications are developed under the Java Community Process .
Apache is a common server, itself only supports html page that is common. However, through the plug-in support for PHP, and Tomcat can also be connected (one-way connection Apache Tomcat, that is accessible through the Apache Tomcat resources).
Apache only supports static pages, but like asp, php, cgi, jsp pages to the dynamic needs of Tomcat to handle. Use Apache and Tomcat integration: If the client requests a static page, only the Apache server needs to respond to requests; If the client requests a dynamic page, it is a Tomcat server to respond to requests; because jsp is server-side interpreted code, so that integration can Tomcat service to reduce overhead.
Apache and Tomcat are independent, in the same server can be integrated.
